Who Programs Beauty? | Evrim Uçunkaya | TEDxYouth@FMVErenköyIşık

The speaker, a plastic surgeon, shares how she discovered deeper purpose in her profession beyond aesthetics. Through her experiences, she explains how healing is not just physical but also emotional — and how small, compassionate actions in her daily work transform lives. She blends medical expertise with empathy, showing that true impact comes from intention, not grandeur. Her core message: Purpose is built through everyday choices, and even in a surgical room, kindness and presence can be life-changing. Dr. E. Evrim Uckunkaya-Portner is a plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgeon based in Istanbul, where she runs her private clinic. Born in Istanbul and a German citizen, she earned her medical degree and doctorate from Yeditepe University, focusing on malnutrition in underserved communities. She trained extensively in Turkey, Germany, and the U.S., working with experts like Dr. Ulrich Fabian and Dr. Dirk F. Richter. With over 20 years of experience, she has published and presented widely on body contouring, facial aesthetics, and reconstructive surgery. She has also served as co-investigator in international clinical studies and is an active member of ISAPS, IPRAS, DGPRÄC, and TPRECD. Fluent in Turkish, English, and German, Dr. Uckunkaya-Portner offers a global perspective in her field.
