Where Heritage Meet Vision | Maharaj Kunwarani Sahiba Nivritti Kumari Mewar Mewar | TEDxIIMSambalpur
In this insightful and inspiring talk, Maharaj Kunwarani Sahiba Nivritti Kumari Mewar delves into the significance of heritage—not just as a relic of the past, but as a living, evolving force that can shape the future. As a custodian of one of India’s most iconic royal legacies, she shares how cultural preservation can go hand-in-hand with progressive change. From reviving traditional crafts to promoting sustainable tourism, she emphasizes how honoring our roots can empower communities, uplift women, and spark innovation. Reflecting on her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic—where she mobilized local resources to support frontline workers—her talk is a testament to how heritage, when led by vision, becomes a powerful tool for social transformation. Maharaj Kunwarani Sahiba Nivritti Kumari Mewar, a member of the royal families of Mewar, Rajasthan, is known for her contributions to heritage preservation and social initiatives. She is the daughter of Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, a seasoned politician and the Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, and Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, a four-time Member of Parliament. Married to Prince Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, she actively supports initiatives focused on cultural conservation, sustainable tourism, and community welfare. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she led a mask-making initiative, crafting and distributing handmade masks to frontline workers in Udaipur. Passionate about heritage and philanthropy, she continues to contribute towards women’s empowerment and public welfare programs.
