Inspiriert durch Stadtentwicklungskonzepte, die bereits in verschiedenen Städten weltweit umgesetzt werden, genährt von ihren eigenen Forschungserkenntnissen, flaniert Marion Mangelsdorf mit uns in ihrem Talk durch die Stadt unserer Träume. Im Sinne: Let’s move our Cities. Wie können wir alle daran teilhaben, soziale Gerechtigkeit, Biodiversität und Geschlechtervielfalt zu entfalten, damit ein „Recht auf Stadt“ – wie es Henri Lefebvre nannte – lebendig wird? Marion Mangelsdorf was born in Cologne. As a cultural scientist and Scientific Director of the Centre for Anthropology and Gender Studies (ZAG), she has been working at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg since 1998. She is also a guest lecturer at the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Basel.For her, it is crucial to ask how environmental issues and urban development processes can be co-designed by all those who live in cities in order to promote social justice, biodiversity and gender diversity. She is the founder and executive director of People of Color Outdoors (POCO), an organization dedicated to creating safe and inclusive outdoor experiences for people of color.Pamela has been recognized for her work with several accolades, including being the first recipient of the Joey Pope Award from the Portland Parks Foundation in 2022, and being selected by adidas to join the Adidas Community Lab Accelerator as one of an eight-person cohort of community leaders and entrepreneurs and nonprofit founders in 2023, and being featured on OPB’s Think Out Loud radio show and “Oregon Field Guide” television show in 2024. Her efforts have significantly contributed to increasing visibility and access to natural spaces for marginalized communities in Portland.
