From Dreams to Coaching: Finding a New Path in Adversity | 大島田 Oshima Den | TEDxHSUHK

Oshima Den, born with a mixed Hong Kong-Japanese background, moved to Hong Kong at the age of 9 and became fluent in Cantonese through interactions with his relatives. Passionate about baseball from a young age, he initially aspired to become a professional player. However, a severe car accident shattered his dream, forcing him to reconsider his path. Instead of giving up on sports, he transitioned into coaching softball and became the head coach of the Hong Kong Women's Softball Team. Under his leadership, the team achieved remarkable success at the 2018 Asian Games. Beyond coaching, Den is also a well-known YouTuber, running the channel "大島與龍威", where he shares insights into Japanese food culture.
