Where there is love, there time ever will be | Choy Sze Qin | TEDxUTAR

Leah Choy Sze Qin, has faced extraordinary challenges from a very young age. When her sister Adele was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Leah began baking at the age of 4.5 to raise funds for her sister's treatment, turning what could have been a devastating situation into a mission of love and resilience. Despite the setbacks of Adele's health and the challenges posed by the pandemic, Leah persevered, and today, at just 15 years old, she runs her own baking company and recently opened a Nyonya restaurant. Leah’s story is a powerful testament to how adversity, when met with determination and love, can lead to incredible growth and triumph. Leah Choy, a remarkable 16-year-old baker, author, and entrepreneur from Melaka, Malaysia, has made significant strides in the culinary world. Her journey began at just 4.5 years old, driven by a heartfelt desire to raise funds for her sister's health challenges, instilling in her a profound sense of resilience and hope.At only 6, Leah became the youngest recipient of the Tuanku Bainun Young Changemakers Award. Over the past 12 years, she has conducted more than 50 workshops across Malaysia, Brunei, and Jakarta, sharing her passion for baking. In 2018, she published her first book at age 9.In July 2024, Leah opened "Terima Kasih," an Omakase-inspired Nyonya restaurant honoring her grandmother's legacy. Now, she is focused on pursuing her tertiary education in culinary arts and nutrition, aiming to help others while demonstrating that age is no barrier to achieving greatness in the culinary world.
