Democratising the Indian Kitchen | Anu Singh Choudhary | TEDxITM Gwalior Women

he Indian kitchen has long been a space shaped by cultural traditions, gender roles, and socio-economic hierarchies. This talk explores the evolving dynamics of the kitchen as a site of empowerment, innovation, and shared responsibility. From challenging the stereotype of cooking as "women’s work" to recognizing the role of men, technology, and modern lifestyles in reshaping domestic spaces, the discussion delves into how food, labor, and power intersect. By democratizing the kitchen, we not only promote gender equality but also create a more inclusive and collaborative culinary culture in Indian households. Anu Singh Choudhary, a celebrated author in Hindi, is one of the few truly bilingual and multimedium writers. Her years as a documentary filmmaker and award-winning journalist make her stories an authentic chronicle of the zeitgeist. Her diverse experience in storytelling, publishing and communications consulting took shape at multiple platforms such as NDTV, Save the Children, Gaon Connection, Yatra Books, Harper Collins India and Amazon-Westland. As a Screenwriter, Anu has adapted two bestselling novels for screen for a leading digital platform, and is currently writing her third series due for an early 2020 release. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
