İçimizde yanan kıvılcımın bizi nerelere getireceğini bilemezsiniz." gibi çarpıcı cümlelerle konuşmasını taçlandırdı. Dr. Burak Uyanık, 1988 İzmir doğumlu ve doğuştan işitme engelli bir bireydir. Eskişehir İşitme Engelli Çocuklar Eğitim Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezi’nde (İÇEM) eğitimine başlamış, ardından çeşitli okullarda bilgisayar teknolojisi alanından başarılı derecelerle mezun olmuştur. Türkiye’de doktorasını tamamlayan ilk işitme engelli birey olmuştur. Kocaeli Üniversitesi Bilgisayar Mühendisliği bölümünde doktora eğitimini tamamlamıştır.
Uyanık, Anadolu Sağırlar Spor Kulübü Derneği Yönetim Kurulu Üyesi, İşitme Engelliler Birliktelik Derneği Başkanı ve 8863 Anatolian Deaf Eternals Robotik Takımı’nın Lider Mentorü’dür. Robotik takımı, liderliğinde önemli ödüller kazanmış ve işitme engelli gençlerde bilim ve teknolojiye olan ilgiyi artırmıştır.
Profesyonel kariyerinde Koç Sistem, TÜBİTAK ve şu anda TUSAŞ TEI’de görev yapmaktadır. İşitme engelli bireylerin eğitimde ve toplumda daha fazla yer almasını desteklemeye yönelik çalışmalarıyla topluma katkı sunmaktadır.
