Be Unique: Exploring the Unconventional | THANH LONG TRAN | TEDxDragon Bridge Youth

In the talk Be Unique: Exploring the Unconventional, the speaker encourages embracing individuality and thinking beyond mainstream trends. Drawing from personal experiences, they share how exploring less popular interests, like Q-pop from Kazakhstan and Islamic culture, has enriched their perspective. The talk emphasizes the importance of curiosity-driven exploration, seeking diverse viewpoints, and connecting seemingly unrelated ideas. The speaker argues that cultivating a unique mindset is not about being out of place but about finding and expressing one's true self. By doing so, we can make meaningful contributions and innovate in ways that others may not. The talk concludes with a call to action to embrace uniqueness and pursue unconventional paths for a more impactful future. Tran Thanh Long (aka TLong), an 11th grader from Phan Chau Trinh High School, is excited to step onto the TEDx stage for the first time to share his personal journey. With a passion for developing a "Unique Mindset," Long seeks to offer fresh perspectives in a fast-paced world where many youngsters risk losing their individuality. He firmly believes in the power of self-confidence and the importance of staying true to one’s own colors. TEDxDragonBridge Youth’s theme of "Tomorrow" resonates deeply with him, inspiring his vision of bringing innovative ideas to the table. Long has honed his skills through participation in global debate contests, such as The World Scholar's Cup at Yale University, and looks forward to the "Trường Teen" broadcast on national television VTV. His experience as an emcee for school events and as a delegate in Model United Nations (MUN) has helped shape his problem-solving and public speaking abilities, further fueling his passion to engage and inspire others. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
