Brand New Days: Unmooring and Setting Sail | 卓亦謙 Nick Cheuk | TEDxHSUHK
In this talk, Nick will share his journey from a child fascinated by stories to a screenwriter and finally a director. He will explore the theme of "Unmoor", discussing how he overcame mental barriers and industry challenges to pursue his passion. His story encourages us to reflect: When faced with uncertainty, are we willing to take the leap and embrace new beginnings? Should we regret doing something rather than regret never trying? His journey is a testament to the courage of letting go and setting sail toward our dreams. Nick Cheuk is a member of the Hong Kong Screenwriters’ Guild and the screenwriter of Hong Kong action film Paradox. He was also the Creative Director of the 38th Hong Kong Film Awards.Graduated from the School of Creative Media of City University of Hong Kong in 2013, Nick studied Cinematic Arts under the supervision of renowned director Patrick Tam. In 2019, Nick joined the fifth First Feature Film Initiative supported by the Hong Kong Film Development Council with Time Still Turns the Pages. He then won the Best New Director award at the 60th Golden Horse Awards for this film, written and directed by him in 2023 and produced by Derek Yee.
