In this talk, Chang reflects on her journey of discovering the importance of cultural heritage and its deep connection to our identity and future. Drawing from her experiences studying Arts and Culture Management abroad and visiting archaeological sites across Iraq, including those she encountered during her internship in Iraqi Kurdistan, Chang explores the challenges of valuing our own history in a world that often overlooks it. She discusses the significance of preserving both tangible and intangible heritage—not just as a way to honor the past but as a path to foster pride, community, and even economic growth. Through personal stories and global examples, she invites you to reconnect with the legacy that defines us all. Born and raised in Duhok, Iraqi Kurdistan, she is a student in the MA program in Management of Arts & Culture at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, she has dedicated her career to connecting communities with their roots. Her work spans roles like Activities Manager at Nawroz University and contributions to the Land of Nineveh Archaeological Project, where she championed heritage preservation.Currently researching museum studies, she aims to create a future where Kurdistan’s rich history is celebrated and shared across generations.
