- 5:33Positive Thinking | Xiaohe He | TEDxNACIS Shanghai YouthLotus from 6 Hazel explores how positive thinking transforms setbacks into growth, citing scientific studies linking optimism to faster recovery, lower stress, and greater success. She illustrates this with J.K. Rowling’s perseverance through rejection and Marcus Aurelius’ Stoic philosophy on controlling one’s mindset, alongside her own journey from self-doubt to the TEDx stage by asking “How can I try?” Her actionable steps—reframing thoughts, focusing on controllables, practicing gratitude, and curating a positive environment—reveal that happiness hinges not on circumstances, but on the quality of our thoughts. I’m Lotus from Class Hazel, Grade 6, and I’m 12 years old. I have a wide range of interests, like football and skiing, which let me experience the world in different ways and help me unwind after school. If you ask me about my favorite subject? Definitely science—especially physics! Exploring the microscopic world feels absolutely incredible. I’m also passionate about reading physics books, along with detective novels and fiction for fun. As an open-minded explorer at heart, I can’t wait to meet you at TEDx! This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. - 8:27How to correctly interpret competition? | Peiyang Wang | TEDxNACIS Shanghai YouthThis talk reframes competition through a cross-cultural lens, contrasting egalitarian Swiss schooling with China's high-pressure academics. Revealing how unhealthy comparison ("neijuan") undermines mental health, the speaker proposes four keys to constructive competition: self-benchmarking, strength-focused growth, continuous learning, and community contribution. A timely rethink of achievement culture for students and educators alike. Hi everyone, I’m Peiyang, grade 10 student at NACIS. You can find me in the library, quietly immersed in a novel. The basketball court is where I can learn new skills and express my passion for sports. In front of a piano playing my sorrows or my love is what you can hear. In the depths of woods and mountains, a boy sits on the zenith of a mountain, secreting his nostalgia for subsequent memories. However, if you really pay attention, you might even find me in the school cafeteria, enjoying the provisional satisfactions of a food critic. - 8:47The realization of a "human nutrition" | Lehan Wang | TEDxNACIS Shanghai YouthA brutally honest account of chasing quick fitness fixes that left the speaker exhausted and frustrated. The turning point? Discovering that real change comes through small, consistent steps rather than dramatic overhauls. This talk unpacks the science of habit formation while challenging our cultural obsession with extreme self-improvement, ultimately advocating for kinder, more sustainable paths to personal growth. Hello, I'm Emily Wang from Grade 10, a health and nutrition enthusiast who make myself an "experiment in human nutrition". In this speech, I'm going to present to you my experiments and my feelings from them. How to make a happy and ordinary life coexist with good health? What this journey of experiments has taught me is that we can take the word "healthy" off the scale and turn it into a magical elf, hiding it in the beat of the headphones on morning jog, in the extra half-scoop of seasonal veggies the cafeteria lady gives me, and in the whisper I have with myself every time I make a choice. Are you all ready to hear about the life ticks I've picked up over the years of amazing experiments that are more noteworthy than calorie numbers? Are you ready to unwrap this special experiment report with me? This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
