Record 57,000 worshippers use electric cart service at Grand Mosque on 27th night of Ramadan
Saudi Gazette reportMAKKAH —
The General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque announced a new record in mobility services during the 27th night of Ramadan 1446H, with 57,000 worshippers benefiting from electric golf cart transportation inside the Grand Mosque. This milestone reflects the continuous development of transportation services offered at the holy site, especially during peak seasons.
During the first 15 days of Ramadan alone, over 522,000 worshippers utilized the various transportation services available at the Grand Mosque.
These included more than 421,000 who used electric golf carts, over 86,000 who opted for upgraded paid carts, and around 15,000 who benefited from the free manual carts provided in designated areas.
To meet the growing demand, the authority recently doubled the number of electric golf carts operating in the mosque to 400. These services are further supported by the "Unified Transportation" platform, which allows users to reserve carts in advance, choose between electric or manual options, and complete payments electronically.
The transportation initiative has been particularly vital in supporting the elderly, people with disabilities, and worshippers who find it difficult to move through the mosque during crowded periods. The strategic deployment of carts throughout key access points — including Bab al-Salam, Al-Shabika Bridge, and Ajyad — has helped reduce congestion and streamline movement within the mosque’s vast courtyards and prayer areas.
