Riyadh to showcase Saudi culture as guest of honor at 2025 Buenos Aires International Book Fair
Saudi Gazette report
BUENOS AIRES — The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission is preparing to lead Riyadh’s participation as the “Guest of Honor” at the 49th Buenos Aires International Book Fair 2025, taking place from April 22 to May 12 in the Argentine capital.
Riyadh’s selection as guest of honor underscores its emerging role on the global cultural stage and highlights Saudi Arabia’s commitment to promoting intercultural dialogue and knowledge exchange through literature and the arts.
Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Wasil, CEO of the Literature Commission, stated that the Kingdom’s participation offers a unique opportunity to introduce Saudi culture to Latin American audiences and share the diversity of the nation’s literary and creative heritage.
The Riyadh pavilion will feature a rich cultural program including seminars, panel discussions, poetry evenings, and stage performances. It will also include an interactive corner for children, an exhibition of rare manuscripts and books, and a dedicated space for Saudi publications translated into Spanish—designed to deepen cross-cultural understanding.
Specialized spaces will highlight Saudi Arabia’s traditional arts and heritage. These include a handicrafts corner featuring live demonstrations of traditional industries, and a heritage replica area showcasing Riyadh’s architectural identity. A reception space inspired by the Salmani architectural style will reflect the fusion of authenticity and modern design.
A traditional fashion showcase and a tasting corner offering popular dishes from Riyadh’s cuisine—accompanied by cultural explanations in Spanish—will provide visitors with a sensory experience of Saudi Arabia’s living heritage.
Several national cultural institutions will support the Saudi presence at the fair, including the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, the Heritage Commission, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, the King Abdulaziz Foundation, the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language, and the King Fahd National Library.
