5 Lessons to Transform a Community | Ben Kurian | TEDxOlentangy Liberty Youth

In his speech "5 Lessons to Transform a Community," Ben Kurian shares how he and his small church community revived their Vacation Bible School (VBS) after a three-year pause following the pandemic. He outlines five key lessons learned through the process: identifying what is missing, relying on teamwork, leading by example, persisting through obstacles, and facing fears. Kurian describes how these principles helped them plan and execute a vibrant, large-scale event in just three weeks, ultimately strengthening their youth community. Ben Kurian is a freshman at Olentangy Liberty High School who enjoys exploring creative and meaningful ways to connect with others. Music has been a significant part of his life—he has played the piano for 10 years, performs in his church, and is a violinist for the All-State Orchestra. Ben is a state qualifier in Lincoln-Douglas debate and a high-achieving member of HOSA, gaining valuable experience in advocacy and teamwork. As a national and international award-winning videographer, his work, including his recent award-winning documentary, The Road to Vision Zero, has been honored by senators, governors, and this weekend, at an international transportation conference in Dallas. Through all his endeavors, Ben is passionate about combining his interests to make a positive impact. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
