Stijn Ilsen is a space engineer with over 20 years of experience, specializing in satellite projects and space exploration. His passion for achieving the nearly impossible has driven his career, emphasizing the power of a "moonshot mindset" to inspire innovation and break technological barriers.In his talk, Stijn shares stories of space exploration, starting with a powerful image of Earth taken from 900 million kilometres away by a spacecraft orbiting Saturn. This image underscores the insignificance yet uniqueness of our planet. He emphasizes the moonshot mindset, inspired by JFK's challenge to land a man on the moon.Stijn also recounts his personal journey. Despite struggles with dyslexia and a lack of job offers in Belgium’s space sector, he persisted. He finally secures a position in Europe’s largest space project, achieving his dream. Today, he continues to work on innovative satellite missions, driven by a belief in the impossible. Stijn Ilsen is a Senior Satellite Engineer currently working at Redwire Space. He has also joined other TEDx events, such as TEDx UHasselt to share his ideas! As a space engineer, he always pushes the boundaries of what is possible. To achieve what is seemingly impossible.
