Code-Switching: The Art of Adapting | Chandrika Ghosh | TEDxUoN
In her inspiring TEDx Talk, Chandrika invites us to reflect on the complexities of identity, authenticity, and the subtle ways we adapt to the world around us.From a young age, she has been drawn to the power of performance and self-expression. She trained in Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance form, for seventeen years, competed in track and field, and brought characters to life through her school’s drama society. These experiences shaped her deep love for connecting with audiences and telling meaningful stories. With a strong belief in the power of storytelling to drive change, Chandrika encourages us to question the roles we play in different spaces. Her talk explores the art of code-switching. The silent, everyday shifts in language, tone, and mannerisms we use to fit in. And what it truly means to be yourself in a world that often asks you to be something else. This is a deeper exploration of identity, connection, and self-expression. Drawing from her own life, Chandrika shares moments of truth, transformation, and authenticity. She reminds us that behind every shift in voice or identity lies a story of survival, strength, and hope.Chandrika challenges the way we think about belonging and conformity. Inviting us to embrace the parts of ourselves we sometimes feel the need to hide. Through thoughtful reflection and bold honesty, she shows us that authenticity is not just about being real. It is about being free.Through her talk Chandrika hopes to inspire others to challenge social norms, build more inclusive communities, and find power in who they truly are. Because the most lasting change begins when we stop performing and start showing up as who we truly are. Chandrika Ghosh is a final year Philosophy Politics and Economics
