Świat obecnie stoi przed poważnym problemem dotyczącym ograniczenia wydobycia konwencjonalnych źródeł energii. Wiąże się to jednocześnie z koniecznością wdrażania innowacyjnych rozwiązań, które będą dotyczyły wykorzystania odnawialnych źródeł energii. Sytuacja ta dotyczy wielu dziedzin gospodarki. Jedną z nich są układy napędowe stosowane w pojazdach samochodowych. W wystąpieniu poruszone zostaną zagadnienia dotyczące możliwości zastąpienia klasycznego silnika spalinowego napędem elektrycznym. Czy jesteśmy gotowi odejść od produkcji silników spalinowych w Europie? Co dalej z rozwojem motoryzacji? Czy rzeczywiście elektromobilność jest słusznym kierunkiem? Wystąpienie będzie miało charakter szeroko rozumianej dyskusji czy Europa jest gotowa na nadchodzące zmiany. Dyrektor Instytutu Napędów i Lotnictwa na Wydziale Inżynierii Lądowej i Transportu Politechniki Poznańskiej. Działalność naukowa dotyczy szeroko rozumianej problematyki ograniczenia negatywnego wpływu motoryzacji na środowisko naturalne. Prowadzi badania emisji zanieczyszczeń w warunkach rzeczywistej eksploatacji przy wykorzystaniu najnowocześniej aparatury badawczej. Zajmuje się również metodami odzysku energii ze spalin oraz prowadzi prace ukierunkowane na wdrażanie wodoru jako źródła energii w pojazdach samochodowych. Uczestniczył w pracach dotyczących opracowywania Polskiej Strategii Wodorowej do roku 2030. Jest autorem ponad 90 publikacji naukowych. Był uczestnikiem licznych konferencji naukowych o zasięgu krajowym i międzynarodowym. Brał udział w ponad 20 projektach badawczo-rozwojowych, z czego jest kierownikiem jednego.
