Dans ce talk, Jérémy Magalon nous explique comment vos plaquettes sanguines peuvent être utilisées pour soulager les douleurs liées à l’arthrose du genou. Il utilise la métaphore de l'usure des pneus de voiture pour illustrer le phénomène de dégradation du cartilage et comment et pourquoi les plaquettes sanguines pourraient retarder la pose d'une prothèse métallique proposé aux patients les plus sévères en remplacement de l'articulation.Son talk rends hommage aux inspirations qui ont accompagné son parcours professionnel et l'ont conduit à poursuivre une quête scientifique mais également entrepreneuriale pour rendre crédible et accessible l'utilisation du plasma riche en plaquettes (PRP) ! He couldn't have been more right! In this talk, Jérémy Magalon explains how your blood platelets can be used to alleviate pain associated with knee osteoarthritis. He uses the metaphor of car tire wear to illustrate the phenomenon of cartilage degradation and how and why blood platelets could delay the need for a metal prosthesis, which is often proposed to the most severe patients as a replacement for the joint.His talk pays tribute to the inspirations that have accompanied his professional journey and led him to pursue a scientific and entrepreneurial quest to make the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) credible and accessible! It beautifully highlights "point of care regenerative medicine", which uses the patient's own cells for healing, and which he considers one of the therapeutic options in the great revolution of biotechnologies applied to health that we are currently experiencing! Jérémy est pharmacien biologiste spécialisé en thérapie cellulaire, génique et médecine régénérative. Il est praticien hospitalier à l'hôpital de La Conception à Marseille & Professeur dans le département de Bioingénierie Pharmaceutique à la faculté de Pharmacie d'Aix Marseille Université, et diplômé d'un Mastère ESSEC en Stratégie & Management des Industries de Santé. Auteur de plus de 90 articles scientifiques et orateurs dans plus de 60 conférences internationales, ce spécialiste international reconnu sur l'utilisation thérapeutique des plaquettes, travaille à la mise au point de traitements biologiques issus des cellules et tissus du corps humain. Lou Pavek was born in Edina, Minnesota, and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated summa cum laude from Stetson University in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. While at Stetson, she was introduced to research after serving as a Research Assistant on multiple projects with Dr. Garcia and Dr. Eskenazi in the Psychology Department. In her senior year, Lou later served as the first-ever Research Coordinator for Stetson’s Brain Fitness Academy and conducted a research project that, like this talk, studies productivity. Outside of psychology, Lou was involved in FOCUS Orientation, Student Ambassadors, and more. Since graduation, Lou has been a Research Assistant for Dr. Woods and Dr. Gullett at the University of Florida’s Center for Cognitive Aging and Memory. He founded Mentoria Piloto, a free mentorship program helping low-income, mostly queer students from northeastern Brazil access competitive international programs with $40,000 in scholarships and now works with Volusia Pride to empower youth in queer advocacy. Through their experiences, Noel emphasizes the need for public policy reform to create safer and more inclusive educational environments for queer students, especially in light of growing anti-LGBTQ+ policies worldwide. This injustice stems from historical racial stereotypes, negative media narratives, and a lack of diverse representation in the judiciary. Professor Adin proposed solutions: acknowledge systemic problems, promote self-reflection to eliminate implicit bias, and significantly increase minority representation in the justice system. Born with unilateral vision, she has to navigate the challenges of depth perception and limited peripheral sight both in and out of the pool. Outside of the water, she has a deep passion for storytelling and loves music and art, perceiving them as different ways to see everything. She is always looking for new ways to challenge her perspective and understanding of the world. She joined TEDx because she believes in the power of ideas to create change and wanted to share her journey of overcoming mental and physical barriers beyond what the eye can see. Through her talk, she hopes to inspire others to rethink how they define success and recognize that sometimes, the biggest obstacles aren’t the ones we can’t see, but the ones we refuse to.
