Samashti Gubbi, known as SanskritSparrow, is a Sanskrit content creator, rapper, and singer, as well as the founder of sthaayi.in, a platform dedicated to making Sanskrit accessible and relatable to today’s world. Launched in 2023, sthaayi.in has gained widespread popularity among diverse sectors of the community, attracting individuals from various backgrounds who seek to explore and engage with Sanskrit in a modern context. She is the visionary behind KIMBHO Sanskrit Weekends, a vibrant community initiative that began in Cubbon Park, Bengaluru, and expanded to cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Hyderabad. These gatherings provide an engaging way to explore Sanskrit while fostering a sense of community. The initiative was personally acknowledged by Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was even mentioned in his popular radio program, Mann Ki Baat, as an inspiring example of Sanskrit for the modern world. An avid biker, Samashti also founded the Sanskrit Riders Club in 2024, blending her love for travel which brought thousands of riders to the Sanskrit community currently. She organizes unique biking events that celebrate, promote and teach the language. A rapper and singer herself, Samashti’s Apna time aayega , Sanskrit version and Kesariya in Sanskrit have gained popularity on the internet. In recognition of her work, Samashti was invited by the honourable President of India Draupadi Murmu for her contributions to the promotion of Sanskrit. Through her innovative initiatives, Samashti continues to bridge the timeless wisdom of Sanskrit with the dynamic needs of the modern world, inspiring learners and enthusiasts globally.Samasthi’s passion for Sanskrit grew from the realization that she could speak and communicate in the language, using it in daily conversations and even playful moments, like scolding or gossiping in Sanskrit. What started as a small group of friends meeting in Cubbon Park, Bengaluru, has expanded into a vibrant, global community, earning recognition from prominent figures such as the Prime Minister and President of India. Sanskritsparrow has led fun and impactful initiatives, like hosting a Sanskrit marathon and singing the Sanskrit birthday song, proving that the language can thrive in contemporary settings. With humor and wit, she highlights the beauty of incorporating Sanskrit into everyday life—whether in texting, greeting, or even pick-up lines, challenging the stereotype of Sanskrit as a “dead language.” Samashti, also known as sanskritsparrow, began creating content in Sanskrit on Instagram a year ago, igniting a community of Sanskrit enthusiasts who now number in the thousands. He enjoys learning and is always looking for opportunities to meet new people. He is a budding photographer, as well as being an avid reader and also working on paper-craft, namely quilling. He values his academics and his extra-curricular, which is why he practices badminton and cricket. His favorite subject areas include math, science, and history.
