Pushing the boundaries of the known to unravel the mystery of dark matter—because 95% of the universe remains unseen and unexplained. Prof. Dr. Leander Litov will challenge you with questions about the mysteries of the Universe. He is an active participant in the Large Hadron Collider research at CERN, part of the CMS collaboration since its launch and leads the SU team. He is a renowned scientist with contributions to theoretical and experimental physics, detector development, high-performance computing and biophysics. He also teaches at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, inspiring students with knowledge on quantum and particle physics. Leandar started his scientific career at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna. In his spare time he experiments with artificial intelligence in art, and his work has been exhibited at CERN. With over 1,200 scientific publications and numerous awards, including 2 Pythagoras Awards, prof. Litov is a leading name in science. He is a member of prestigious scientific councils and institutions, including Academia Europaea. In this inspiring talk, Dinie van den Heuvel, a designer and zero-waste advocate, shares how fabric scraps, cutting waste, and discarded materials became tools to empower the next generation. She invites us to rethink waste not as trash, but as the spark for creativity, resilience, and an abundant future. A fashion designer, sustainability scholar and educator with over 20 years of industry experience, Dinie is currently pursuing her PhD in Creative Practices at Anant National University. She has championed creativity, resourcefulness and circular design as the creative director and sustainability lead at Infantium Victoria, an award-winning vegan children’s wear brand in Brussels, Belgium. She has published two books on sustainable fashion design and has completed numerous projects on textile waste reduction and reuse. Dinie teaches students how even discarded fabric scraps can spark innovation and foster a future-forward approach to fashion.
