- 17:33Reclaiming Urban Nature: Green Spaces for Climate Resilience | Manushi Jain | TEDxIIT PatnaIn this age of the Anthropocene, our cities face unprecedented challenges from climate change, including flooding, water scarcity, and rising temperatures. As Director of Design, Operations, and Communications at the Sponge Collaborative, Manushi Ashok Jain presents a compelling vision for integrating blue-green infrastructure into urban planning to combat these challenges. Drawing from successful projects across Chennai and other Indian cities, this talk explores how the Sponge City approach transforms concrete-dominated urban landscapes into resilient ecosystems capable of absorbing, storing, and purifying water. Through case studies of urban wetland parks, lake restoration projects, and neighborhood sponge interventions, Jain demonstrates how cities can work with nature rather than against it. The presentation highlights how strategic implementation of urban green spaces delivers multiple benefits beyond flood prevention – including reduced urban heat, enhanced biodiversity, improved public health, and strengthened community bonds. By reimagining cities as living systems rather than concrete jungles, we can create more sustainable, equitable, and climate-adaptive urban environments for generations to come. Manushi, an Architect and Urban Designer, has worked globally since 2012 in cities like Boston, NYC, Singapore, Mumbai, Bangalore, Afghanistan, France, and Croatia. Her work focuses on making cities more sustainable and permeable, addressing urban housing, hyper-density, and resiliency in urban development. In Afghanistan, she contributed to rebuilding efforts through sustainable design practices. With a Master’s in Architecture and Urban Design from Pratt Institute, NY, she employs innovative methods to bridge the relationship between architecture and urban design. She received the Creative Thesis Design Medal by A+D magazine and has been shortlisted for various international design competitions. - 16:13The Importance of Literature in Life | Priyanka Tripathi | TEDxIIT PatnaLiterature remains a guiding force that shapes our emotions, perspectives, and identities in a world increasingly driven by technology and data. Literature is not just about stories; it is a mirror to society, a source of solace, and a means of resistance. Drawing from personal experiences and literary references, including Maya Angelou’s powerful poem Still I Rise, this talk explores how literature empowers individuals, fosters resilience, and provides a deeper understanding of the human experience.Through the lens of Veiled Veracity, we uncover how literature allows us to question accepted truths and discover hidden realities beneath the surface. It challenges us to look beyond what is presented and seek deeper meanings—whether in history, culture, or personal struggles. - 14:54Kaaktaal - Living In Between Logic and Magic | Aia Lemonsky | TEDxRUETAsif Iqbal, commonly known as Aia Lemonsky, is a composer, lyricist, and vocalist of the band Kaaktaal, which has a mystical rising story. Aia is an architect who had to serve a half-decade imprisonment. The imprisonment gave him much time to think about life more deeply as he started listening to stories of others. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jail Authority has taken some initiatives to arrange some musical instruments in the Jail for the betterment of the prisoners. Aia took that as an opportunity. He touched the guitar, trying to record the untold tellings of his heart, and that changed his life forever. As an architect, he always looked for Logic around him. But for the first time in life, he found Magic beyond Logic. In every lyric, every line, Aia found how Musical Magic can change one's life. This is the story of a Singer from Prison. Asif Iqbal commonly known as AiA Lemonsky among his fans is one of the rising young singers in Bangladesh. Bangladesh has rarely shown an Architect to be a famous singer, especially in recent times. Asif Iqbal is the composer, lyricist, and vocalist of the band Kaaktaal which has a mystical rising story mostly kept secret by the band. The uniqueness of Asif Iqbal and his band is that their dependency on instruments, stage, or other facilities is minimalistic. His core philosophy is to connect with the audience while performing live. Some of the popular tracks by Asif Iqbal and his band include 'Abar Dekha Hole', 'Dhulo', 'Kichu Nei', 'Odbhut', 'Chorki', 'Jhoruk Nirjhar', 'Bhoy', and 'Shiuli'. He plans to record more of their tracks and release them online. He wants the music to always be freely accessible to their fans. Seems that Bangladesh is going to see a mystical musical dopamine blast from Architect.
