Hamad Kalkaba Malboum is a prominent Cameroonian sports leader, former military officer, and cultural advocate who has shaped African athletics for over two decades. Born in 1950, he has served as President of the Confederation of African Athletics since 2003 and was elected the first President of the African Olympic Sports Confederation (CASOL) in 2024. He has also led the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee since 1998 and previously headed the International Military Sports Council. A former sprinter and long jumper, his leadership is grounded in personal athletic experience, a military background, and a strong commitment to youth development. Beyond sports, he is known for his musical recordings in the 1970s, reflecting his passion for African culture. Fluent in French and English, he is widely renowned among his colleagues for his charisma, leadership, and perspicacity, and champions sports as a force for unity, inclusion, and continental pride.
