Is Time an Illusion? | Zara Zamir | TEDxSharjah English School
Is time an illusion? What if your past, present, and future all exist right now? Exploring Block Universe theory, Zara Zamir walks us through how relativity reshapes our understanding of time — where every moment, from missed buses to future breakthroughs, may already be set in stone. Zara Zamir is an aspiring medical student at Sharjah English School. Deeply fascinated by the complexities of the human brain, Zara is passionate about neurology and neurogenetics. In the future, she aims to make an impact on healthcare through clinical research in precision medicine for neurological disorders.
Zara is also eager to integrate sustainability into healthcare, particularly by exploring innovative surgical waste management. Beyond her academic pursuits, she enjoys engaging in philosophy, specifically in the areas of bioethics and epistemology, hoping to inspire others to critically think about the nature of knowledge and reality.
Zara's talk will explore the block universe theory and its implications on our perception of time. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

This came to a head after a stand-up gig, where a menacing interaction with an audience member brought to life the frequent discrimination women, non-binary and trans-masculine comedians face.Jodie Mitchell, aka John Travulva, is a stand-up comedian, writer and Drag King. They’ve appeared on Comedy Central Live, Channel 4’s Jokes Only a Lesbian Can Tell, and award-winning BBC Radio 4 sketch show Time of The Week, which they were also a writer for.
