- 12:45How Procrastination Impacts Mental Well-Being | Valentina Guerra Lorenzo | TEDxYouth@JFKQROIn this year's talk I will talk about time. In Particular, I will explore how now-a-days we are awfully used to wasting time in exchange for things such as social media. We do these things to waste time and end up losing the opportunity to achieve our greatest dreams. I want to remind this generation how time is the most valuable gift life has given us, and how without it life is meaningless; so we should all live in the moment instead of trapping ourselves in the loopholes of a screen. In this speech I will be delighted to share one of my experiences with time: during quarantine I struggled with anxiety, which made it really hard for me to live in the moment. I developed a habit of diving into the web all day long, which to a point made me addicted to being on social media. I fought against this for a long period of time, while trying to make up for those years I could have lived in the moment. That was the moment when I realized I was not alone; every single day you see people glued to the screen and getting addicted to the content inside the media. This is the change I want to make in the world, I want to remind people of how easy it is to waste time, but also to live fully within the time that we have to live. We can choose what to do with hours some of us would normally waste and do something productive, but that is in our hands to make the decision. My name is Valentina Guerra, and I am one of the Highschool Students who has had the honor of being elected for this year's TEDx program. Through stories of resilience, sisterhood, entrepreneurship, and growth, she explores how even the most unexpected setbacks can become powerful catalysts for transformation. "Ditya was a vision of two sisters, Anandita & Ananya. While one succumbed to cancer, the other made their shared dream a reality. As a pastry chef, my greatest joy is seeing people light up when they experience my creations. My journey began in my grandmother’s kitchen and led me to Le Cordon Bleu, London, where I specialized in Patisserie et Boulangerie. In 2024, I launched Ditya, expanding to two outlets in under a year.At Ditya, quality is key—from ingredients to presentation. Beyond desserts, we aim to build a community of comfort and care, supporting mental health, grief meetings, and anxiety groups. We’ve collaborated with Stories of Hope, Kotak Mahindra Bank, 32nd Avenue, Looks Salon, and We The Chefs, enriching our expertise. We also focus on experiential retail, hosting workshops and food stalls.Currently, we operate in Sector 63 & 50, Gurgaon, with two more stores coming soon. This journey has just begun, and I hope to inspire others to chase their dreams." This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
