The Gift of Uncertainty | Veysel Avsar | TEDxSST Corpus Chirsti Youth

In a world increasingly obsessed with control, predictability, and precision, uncertainty is often seen as a weakness—something to be eliminated, avoided, or resolved as quickly as possible. But what if uncertainty isn’t a threat, but a gift? Dr. Veysel Avsar is Associate Dean and Professor of Economics in the College of Business at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi. He earned his B.S. in Economics from Istanbul University and his Ph.D. from Florida International University. His academic path has included roles in the U.S., Turkey, and Australia—shaped by both global perspective and personal resilience. Dr. Avsar’s research focuses on international trade, political economy, and trade policy, with work published in several prestigious academic journals. A two-time “Professor of the Year” award winner at his university, he is widely recognized for his impactful teaching, accessible scholarship, and leadership in higher education. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
