Fighting Loneliness: Leaning on our community | Mishaina Joseph | TEDxComp Sci High
In a world where so many feel alone, even in a crowded room, Mishaina Joseph brings attention to one of today’s most pressing issues: loneliness. Drawing from national data and personal insight, she explores how isolation quietly affects our well-being and why building intentional community matters now more than ever. With a powerful call to action, Mishaina reminds us that connection doesn’t have to be accidental—we have the power to create spaces where everyone feels seen, supported, and heard.Comp Sci High proudly supports and celebrates our students' and teachers' voices and ideas. We believe in amplifying their voices and affirming their freedom to speak. But we also believe in diversity of ideas. So, please note that views expressed here belong to the speakers and don't necessarily represent the views of the school. Mishaina, originally from Haiti, moved to the United States in the 8th grade with a passion for Black and Indigenous history. She began her education career as a tutor at Great Oaks Charter School in Wilmington, Delaware, where she built strong relationships with students, especially young women who inspired her to pursue teaching. - 11:49Why Do We Compare Ourselves to Others? | Vu Duong Ha Trinh | TEDxThe Dewey Schools THTHà Trinh challenges the notion that comparison is detrimental, proposing it as a catalyst for self-improvement. She shares her experiences of navigating identity and expectations to find personal clarity. "A chameleon soul, a restless seeker, a kaleidoscope of identities—wandering through borrowed dreams and silent expectations, forever caught between who I am and who I’m told to be.I’ve worn many hats, played many roles, and walked many paths—always chasing new ways to define myself, new dreams, challenges, lessons, etc. But no matter where I went, one thing remained: the unspoken scoreboard, the silent measuring tape, the endless “Am I enough?” questions and comparisons. But what if comparison isn’t the enemy? What if it’s a tool, a mirror, a lesson?I’m not here to preach. I’m here to share—real stories, real struggles, real breakthroughs. And if you’re curious about how we can navigate this world without losing ourselves, well... you might just find your answer here.I’m Duong Ha, a shape-shifting dreamer, an 11th grader at Marie Curie Hanoi School, and this is my story."
