Nesta talk, Susana Bernardo explora o papel vital da mediação linguística e cultural nos cuidados de saúde porque, às vezes, palavras certas salvam vidas. Filomena Susana Cordeiro Gomes da Silva Bernardo é bolseira da Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) no Doutoramento em Línguas Modernas: Culturas, Literaturas, Tradução, na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra (FLUC), desenvolvendo investigação no domínio da mediação intercultural e interlinguística no acesso à saúde. É membro do CELGA-ILTEC - Centro de Estudos de Linguística Geral e Aplicada da Universidade de Coimbra, que apoiou o seu trabalho de campo, em 2022, nos EUA. Obteve o título de Especialista em Línguas e Literaturas Estrangeiras - Tradução, em 2022, pelas Universidades Politécnicas de Coimbra, Porto e Leiria. É Mestre em Tradução, Pós-graduada em Tradução e Licenciada em Línguas e Literaturas Modernas, nas vertentes de Estudos Ingleses e Alemães, pela FLUC, tendo sido bolseira Erasmus na Universidade de Potsdam, na Alemanha. É tradutora especializada de inglês e alemão para português em empresas internacionais de comunicação multilingue nas áreas da Medicina e Saúde, Ciência e Tecnologia, Marketing e Conteúdos Criativos, há 25 anos, e leciona atualmente as disciplinas de Inglês para Fins Específicos, no ISCAC, e Tradução Especializada, no Mestrado em Tradução, na FLUC.
