The Myth of Arrival: Thriving Beyond The Destination Fallacy | Dr. Saman Arfaie | TEDxMcMasterU

The Myth of Arrival: Thriving Beyond The Destination Fallacy analyzes the intricate tapestry of modern dissatisfaction, showing the unfulfillment and discontent surrounding our lives. The talk challenges the idea of living life as a prequel and rejects the cultural narrative that attaches our happiness to an elusive future and milestones that, upon arrival, grant us all that we are missing and need. Acknowledging the essence of being human, the talk embraces the present and thrives beyond the myth of delayed arrival, offering a profound perspective on the human experience. Dr. Saman Arfaie is a published researcher, classically trained pianist, thought leader, and medical student. He graduated from McGill University with a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery and is starting his neurosurgery residency at the University of Western Ontario. He then conducted brain tumour research at the University of California, San Francisco Department of Neurosurgery. Saman has been recognized by 30+ national and international awards, has published 20+ peer-reviewed articles, and is in the process of co-authoring 2 forthcoming textbooks with Cambridge University & Manitoba University Press.
