He is the chairman and founder of Songtsam Group, renowned for its commitment to both protecting and promoting China’s Tibetan culture. In 1993, Baima Duoji started his career as a documentary photographer and director at CCTV, dedicating his work to bringing China’s Tibetan culture to a global audience. In 2000, he established Songtsam’s first boutique hotel in his hometown of Shangri-La, setting the foundation for what would later become the world’s first hotel circuit in China’s Tibetan region. Over the span of 25 years, Baima Duoji has expanded Songtsam's portfolio to include 17 boutique hotels, along with a tented campsite, offering travelers an intimate experience of China’s Tibetan culture and nature.
