Reggina di origine e milanese di adozione, ha lavorato per 15 anni nella moda prima che un incidente stradale, nel 2005, le cambiasse la vita. Senza mai arrendersi, nel 2010 inizia a correre con protesi in carbonio, diventando la prima atleta italiana con amputazione bilaterale a gareggiare. In 7 anni ha vinto 11 titoli italiani e ha partecipato alle Paralimpiadi di Rio 2016, entrando in finale nei 200m. Attivista per lo sport e l’inclusione, nel 2011 fonda Disabili No Limits per aiutare le persone con disabilità ad accedere a protesi e ausili sportivi. Autrice di libri ispirazionali, ha scritto l’autobiografia "Con la testa e con il cuore si va ovunque” e il libro per bambini "WonderGiusy". Volto noto della TV e del teatro, ha vinto Ballando con le Stelle nel 2014, condotto programmi su Rai e Mediaset e portato in scena la sua storia con uno spettacolo teatrale.Dal 2018 è in Parlamento, prima come deputata, poi come senatrice, impegnata su sport, pari opportunità e diritti delle persone con disabilità.
