Same Brain, New Soil: How Immigrant Minds Rewire Themselves Daily | Chinmay Gujar | TEDxRobinson HS

What do chocolate milk, neuroscience, and immigration all have in common? This talk explores how immigrant brains are rewired by the pressures of society. Through the lens of synaptic pruning and neuroplasticity, it reveals how identity, memory, and mental health are shaped. In our current day and age this conversation needs to be had. It’s a call to look beyond politics and see the immigrant experience as a biological transformation needing empathy, research, and care. Chinmay Gujar is a rising 10th grader at Middleton High School, an immigrant, and an aspiring neurosurgeon with a love for science, storytelling, and archery. Curious by nature, he’s drawn to how the brain works, especially under change and pressure. Whether he’s studying neuroscience or practicing at the archery range, he’s always chasing focus, precision, and meaning. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
