The Water Warrior | Kalpana Ramesh | TEDxThe Gaudium School

Kalpana Ramesh is a renowned water conservationist and environmentalist in Hyderabad, India. Often referred to as the "Water Warrior," she is the driving force behind several innovative initiatives to restore lakes, improve groundwater recharge, and promote sustainable water management practices. As the founder of the Rainwater Project, Kalpana advocates for rejuvenating urban water bodies and adopting rainwater harvesting in homes and communities. In this TED talk, she presents a superblock model to preserve water underground and rejuvenate the resources. Kalpana Ramesh embodies enthusiasm and the adage “Where there is a will, there is a way.” She revolutionizes water conservation, restoring 13 historic stepwells in Telangana, saving thousands of borewells via rainwater harvesting, and planting 600+ trees near water bodies. Honored as one of seven women to take over PM Modi’s social media on Women’s Day 2020, Kalpana’s dedication to sustainability was highlighted in the Prime Minister’s Mann ki Baat speech, featuring the Bansilalpet Stepwell. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
