Micro-trends & aesthetics: 21st century fashion consumerism | Sophia Raja | TEDxValenciaHighSchool

In a rapidly changing world, fashion trends come and go quicker than ever. Is it possible to keep up - and at what cost?21st-century fashion is obsessed with short-lived "micro-trends" and curated identities known as "aesthetics." Sophia Raja discusses the larger issue fueled by them and being more intentional in a world telling us to buy now and think later. Sophia is the youngest of three children and a junior enrolled in the ValTech program at Valencia High School. Sophia’s favorite subjects are AP Psychology and AP Environmental Science. Along with TedX, she volunteers in the Orange County Citizen’s Climate Lobby where she helps educate others and write to Congress about climate change. In her free time, Sophia loves to sew, embroider, and bake for her family. Sophia's future plans include pursuing a career in biology research to improve medical treatment for women. Her favorite pizza topping is pineapple. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
