Dr. Lizy Abraham shares her pioneering journey as the driving force behind WESAT, Kerala’s first satellite engineered entirely by women. Focusing on ultraviolet radiation and climate change, her team’s work addresses critical global challenges while facing and overcoming every obstacle that came along their way. Her story is a powerful testament to resilience, ingenuity, and the transformative impact of women in science. Dr. Lizy Abraham is the Research Head of the Emerging Networks Division at the Walton Institute, South East Technological University, Ireland, leading advanced EU-funded projects. Recipient of the prestigious SFI-IRC Pathway Fellowship, she is developing an AI-based cardiac disorder detection system for children and has been named one of Ireland's Top 25 Researchers for 2024. Her expertise spans Computer Vision, Edge-AI, IoT, Wireless Sensor Networks, Embedded Systems, and Machine Learning. Dr. Abraham also led WESAT, India’s first satellite payload by an all-women team, while serving as an assistant professor at LBS Institute of Technology for Women, Trivandrum. Currently, she mentors Ph.D. students at APJ Abdul Kalam Kerala Technological University and is the Founder of Liz Intelligent Solutions Pvt. Ltd., specializing in Intelligent Technical Solutions.
