What makes me me? Well, that's rather a funny story... Is a philosophical exploration of how we create our own narrative. Throughout her life, Tamara has always been fascinated by storytelling, especially in reference to the delicate construction of personal narratives, our so-called life stories Her own narrative would most likely fall under the category of pleasantly mundane with a desolate scarcity of astounding plot twists, contentious antagonists or ground-breaking revelations. Nevertheless, the more books she immersed herself into as time went by, the more she came to appreciate that there are hardly any stories out there that are not worth telling. Ever since then, she began defining her narrative through her passions rather than her achievements – her insurmountable love for Literature, History and Psychology, as well as her profound fascination with the power of words which materialises itself through her involvement in debate club. She is an active member of the student leadership body at her school (PBIS), and hopes to pursue her future studies in the intricate field of social sciences. Learning at school could be made a lot more compelling with the intelligent use of games including board games and role playing. Jakub Valach, born 2006 in Prague, would not say that he has had a particularly difficult life. Raised by two – and subsequently four – loving parents, he counts himself very lucky to have had the privileges he did (and does). Among them, he values highly his opportunity to experience three very distinct styles of education, ranging from outdated to highly progressive. This helped kickstart his long-term interest in what is taught, and how. At present, his ‘professional’ interests gravitate towards sociology and other humanities and in his free time he indulges in dancing, reading and board games. He has always enjoyed sharpening his critical thinking and creativity through various questions, such as: what are the possible applications of games in education, or, where was Gondor when the Westfold fell? A new take on personal motivation inspired by physics. Illya’s first 18 years of life have been fairly dynamic and transformative. Having lived in three different countries, he has gained a deep awareness of group dynamics and influence of cultural and social backgrounds on human interactions. Like any other high school student, Illya does not miss his occasional chance to critique his IB experience. However, he still values it as a unique opportunity allowing him to broaden his perspective on the world and shape his outlook on the future. His curiosity about Artificial Intelligence led him to spend a summer interning as an AI Engineer at a large multinational corporation where he gained hands-on experience in the field. Self-development has also played a significant role in Illya’s life.
